Tara Tries Quilling
Do you like to try new crafts? Tara has a group of keen crafters who are always up for trying a new craft. In October, a group of likeminded locals met at Tara Library to learn the basics of Quilling (and to have a chat and a laugh with others, of course!).
Quilling is a paper craft where narrow strips of paper are rolled, pressed and folded, and then glued together to make patterns and shapes. Library Officer Jacqui showed the group some of the tools and materials used for Quilling. She then demonstrated how to coil the strips and fold them into ovals, squares, and arrow shapes. It’s amazing how complex a design can be achieved with simple coils of paper! Quilling is a simple craft to learn, and doesn’t cost very much to get going with the basic tools. Plus, it would be ideal for paper upcycling projects (so many ideas!).
Keep an eye out for future craft workshops around the region – you can be sure that Quilling will be back at Tara Library for a future workshop!
Western Downs Libraries has some great papercraft books to read – if you’re looking to try a new hobby, you’ll find plenty of inspiration in our collection of craft books.
