Kay Scarpetta moved back to her new job in Virginia, as head chief of Forensic. A nude female body is found on a railway track, shockingly displayed with her throat cut and her hands severed.
With very few leads, progress is slow to identify this body. An old murder case of a young woman comes to light, which Kay thought needed re-investigating. Questioning the previous chief of Forensics statement of cause of death creates problems in the department.
After identifying the body with no hands, the motive for her death becomes clear – that selling of top secrets to the highest bidder brought her to her down fall.
The mystery carried me through to the end of the novel. To find out who the murderer really was, just left me stumped! This person only became a person of interest towards the end of the novel. I thought, how could it be this person, and in my mind I would not have chosen him as the murderer. But I will let you decide that. – Chris, Wandoan Library
