Creative Cake Decorating with Valerie Murray
It was difficult to resist the temptation to eat the beautiful cakes created at Jandowae Library’s Creative Cake Decorating workshop in February. This workshop was delivered in partnership with guest presenter, Valerie Murray. Valerie recently had a tree-change moving from the city to the small town of Jandowae. She is a gold winning cake making and decorating Salon Culinaire winner and has many years of experience in the profession.
Western Downs Libraries were delighted to have Valerie impart some of her valuable knowledge in this relaxed and enjoyable workshop. Attendees each bought four cupcakes to ice and decorate. They learnt how to roll out fondant icing and then make many different decorations to dress up their cupcakes. These included roses made from Caramel Jersey lollies, butterflies, stars, daisies and bow’s.
The workshop was wonderful with many attendees asking Valerie to come back and deliver a Stage 2 Creative Cake Decorating session.
It really is a pleasure to see our community members learning a new creative skill and one that they can then share with their families (and they can eat the cakes too!).
