Happy Hobbit Day!
September 22 – the official day to celebrate Hobbits, designated by fans as this is the birthday of the two most famous Hobbits – Bilbo and Frodo Baggins.
Bilbo and Frodo Baggins are two fictional characters in the J. R. R. Tolkien books – The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. And if you are familiar with the movie, The Fellowship of the Ring actually shows Bilbo’s birthday party – a day of fun, food, drink and fireworks.
Join in on the Hobbit Day fun! Re-read the book, watch the movie, plan a Hobbit themed party or simply throw your shoes off and spend the day bare-foot, just like a Hobbit.

The Hobbit
Bilbo Baggins is a hobbit who enjoys a comfortable, unambitious life, rarely traveling any farther than his pantry or cellar. But his contentment is disturbed when the wizard Gandalf and a company of dwarves arrive on his doorstep one day to whisk him away on an adventure. They have launched a plot to raid the treasure hoard guarded by Smaug the Magnificent, a large and very dangerous dragon. Bilbo reluctantly joins their quest, unaware that on his journey to the Lonely Mountain he will encounter both a magic ring and a frightening creature known as Gollum.

The Hobbit : An Unexpected Journey
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey follows Bilbo Baggins, who – along with the Wizard Gandalf and 13 dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield – is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome Dragon Smaug. Their journey will take them into the wild, through treacherous lands inhabited by goblins, orcs and dreadly wargs, as well as a mysterious and sinister figure known only as the Necromancer. Along the path, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of ingenuity and courage that surprise even himself, he also gains possession of a ‘precious’ ring tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways he cannot begin to imagine.
